At Petroglyph Point near Tulelake you can view pictographs carved in the rock that are believed to date from about 500 A.D. to 1600 A.D. From boats made of reeds, the Modocs and their ancestors carved petroglyphs into the cliff face of this island on ancient Tule Lake. Birds of prey, including prairie falcons, barn owls and hawks, also inhabit the cliffs and can be seen every day.
